		<description>Thanks for these tips.  I am running mysql 5 on Ubuntu 8.04.  I moved the directories and changed the permissions per steps 1-9.  Then ran /etc/init.d/mysql start, which errored out.  Checked /var/log/daemon.log, which had the latest date &#38; time, and found the following: "The error means mysqld does not have the access rights to the directory.  File name ./ibdata1 File operation call: 'create'.  Cannot continue operation.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.</description>
