iSight on Stolen MacBook helps owner catch thieves
Mac May 10th. 2008, 1:10pmThe anti-theft device on a stolen MacBook allowed its owner, Kait Duplaga to recover the laptop after thieves stole it.
She works at the Apple store in the Westchester mall and she used her MacBook’s “Back to My Mac” program, which turned on her webcam and captured photos of the thieves. The police arrested Edmon Shahikian, 23, of Katonah, and Ian Frias, 20, who lives in the Bronx. All of the property stolen from the apartment was recovered at the two men’s homes. They face charges of burglary and possession of stolen property; Mr. Shahikian was released on $3,500 bail, while Mr. Frias was at the Westchester County Jail, held in $7,500 bail.
