Lithium-Ion Battery Shortage should end by June
Battery May 6th. 2008, 7:44amA shortage of lithium-ion batteries currently hurting laptop computer shipments will likely ease in the third quarter.
A fire at South Korea’s LG Chem in March sent stocks of the batteries up in smoke, ironically just as demand for notebooks and portable computers were up. Batteries are one of the components used in laptop computers that can greatly affect availability and the cost of the notebook. A battery shortage in the notebook industry affects all suppliers to some extent, but small notebook makers will get hit the hardest.
