Yahoo-owned photo-hosting community, Flickr entered a partnership with Getty Images to offer its users a way to potentially make money off their photography.

Under the partnership, Getty editors would comb Flickr in search of interesting images. They will then invite photographers to participate in the program and ensure that their images have the proper releases to be licensed legally. Getty collects between $29 and $200,000 for an image, depending on how much the image is used. Photographers will receive 30 percent to 40 percent of the licensing fee or 20 percent if the image may be used with fewer restrictions.
